Jenny Craig Program
Founded 1983 in Australia and 1985 in the U.S. and states that it is a long-term weight loss management service focusing on body/mind/soul. This is a service you subscribe to and comes in two forms. In-house with weekly meetings including private meetings with a nutritional expert. There is a direct program involving discussing your dieting needs over the phone.
There are three principles to this program; healthy eating, physical activity and a balanced lifestyle. The idea is to improve life as much as body because often being overweight is something that comes from our lifestyle.
Principle 1 - Healthy eating.
Generally you are taught portion control, low fat cooking and a better understanding of foods in general. You are taught by consultants about food and to be careful about what you and yet assured that some of you favorites are not banned but that moderation is your key to enjoyment.
You can also order food products directly from Jenny Craig Inc. to help you become more acquainted with healthy eating, portions and what types of food are best for you. This is not a requirement of the program but it is a good way to learn about healthy eating.
Principle 2 - Physical activity
You are given tips and advice on how to develop about 30 minutes a day of physical exercise. You are encouraged to make lifestyle changes to promote physical activity and to develop fun playful activities.
Principle 3 - Balanced lifestyle
Reducing stress, simplifying lifestyle, learning to relax and managing emotions are characteristics of the final principle. Often over eating and lack of exercise are issues that arise from stress, depression or other lifestyle issues and the Jenny Craig approach states that this type of whole person approach to weight loss is the key to success.

If you are having weight issues it is wise to consult a doctor before making any drastic changes in diet and behavior. Even with a more gradual
approach you may want to be at the ready to consult a medical health professional if you start to feel odd or ill. Nothing on this site should
be taken as medical advice as we are not doctors.
