Slim Fast Diet
All diets should consider the basic needs of the body. If you cut out one type of food and some important nutrients, minerals and vitamins are part of that type of food then you need those to come from another source.
The Slim Fast diet is designed to reduce calorie intake in order to loose weight. To replace some portion of your meals or entire meal you purchase Slim Fast products. These shakes and meal bars are enriched with vitamins and minerals in order to promote balanced nutrition while reducing calorie intake.
Normally you replace your breakfast with a Slim Fast shake or meal bar. Later you eat a sensible snack such as some fresh fruit, small amount of cheese or yogurt. At lunch you would eat some fruit and another shake or bar. An after dinner snack of pretzels, pudding or air popped pop-corn (all fat free) are also allowed.
The evening meal or dinner is a regular meal however you should eat lean meats, fish, poultry and only about 4-6 oz. You also may eat like a baked potato or sweet potato, a variety of steamed vegetables, salad and fruit for desert.
No diet should be considered complete with out exercise. Most recommend about 30 minutes per day or more. Without exercise your body does not function correctly, that is you need to make your heart and lungs work hard from physical activity. The heart and lungs work together to get oxygen to all the cells of your body including other organs.
Once you reach your ideal goal weight you are encouraged to continue eating meals that make sense for your lifestyle. You may find that continuing to do partial replacement such as just one meal a day helps you to maintain an ideal weight.
