Vegetarian Diet

All vegetarian diets remove entirely the eating of meat products. Red meats, poultry, fish are all eliminated from the food intake. While this is not always done as part of a weight loss program it can be an effective way to reduce weight. In some cases you may need to take some supplements when you remove meat entirely from your diet.

With this type of diet you receive many benefits to your health and longevity. The reason for this is that you are consuming a lot more fiber and antioxidants like vitamins E and C that are considered to be cancer fighting agents especially when it is from a natural source like fruits and vegetables. Some of the health benefits of a vegetarian diet include the following:

•  Lower risk of cancer, heart disease and other chronic diseases.

•  Lowered weight.
•  Stronger bones.

There are three types of vegetarian diets. The first is Lacto-ovo and permits the use of animal products such as eggs, milk and milk products like cheese and yogurt. This type does not eat any animal flesh at all. In some cases if this is just part of a weight loss program some meats can be eaten but sparingly.

Lacto vegetarian is the second type. Milk products are permitted however eggs are not. Often this will be more of a personal choice such as those who believe that egg would of birthed a living creature had they not eaten it.

Vegans do not eat any type of meat or meat products whatsoever. Often this is more of a spiritual or emotional decision about life and your part in it. In many cases a vegan will remove all animal products from their lifestyle including leather, makeup, wool and silk.

Again exercise is important to the whole body and increased physical activity equals faster weight loss. Toning muscles helps you to burn calories faster, improves your overall health and is great for fighting depression.
